All football trips to Everton

Everton Football Club were founded in 1878. Ten years after their foundation, the club was one of the Founding Members of the Football League, nowadays better known as the English Premier League. In 1891 they won their first league title. Everton, the second club of Liverpool, was founded before great club Liverpool FC. Everton even used to play at Anfield Road themselves before they moved to Goodison Park, where they still play their home matches. The owner of Anfield Road decided – successfully – to found a new club after the relocation of Everton, which was the beginning of Liverpool FC.

Everton has a long-standing rivalry with Liverpool. The match between the two football clubs from Liverpool is also referred to as the Merseyside derby. This local derby has had more players sent off than any other Premier League match.

Everton’s best years were in the mid-1980s. With Howard Kendall as their head coach they won 2 League Championships, 1 FA Cup and the 1985 European Cup Winners’ Cup. Nowadays Everton is a stable club high in the mid-table position of the Premier League. With new head coach Marco Silva and players such as Cenk Tosun, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Theo Walcott, their ambition is to break into the Big Four.

The stadium of Everton, Goodison Park, has a capacity of over 40,000 seats. The stadium is old and still has that true football atmosphere. Everton plan to build a new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock on the banks of the River Mersey. Everton fans are known to be very loyal and fanatical. The great atmosphere alone is worth visiting an Everton-match and is almost on a par with its prestigious big brother Liverpool FC.
